So, inspired by this, I want to try to do something crafty/creative every day this month. I really want to get into the habit of making more time for the things I love to do. I thought that December would be a good month to start my new habit because there are so many crafty things that I need to do for Christmas anyway- decorating, gifts, baking, etc. Sometimes it seems like I spend more time reading (books, magazines, websites) about the crafts I love (knitting and scrapbooking/paper crafts the most) rather than actually doing them. I walk around yarn and scrapbooking stores, drooling over the pretty yarn and paper and imagining all of the cool projects I could make with them, then never getting around to doing it! I know, I know. I shouldn't feel too guilty. I do have a baby after all. But I don't want her to be an excuse. I really think that I can make time for this. One idea I have for making more time for crafts is to try to get all of my house cleaning done during the week so that I can have the weekends free to do more crafts. We'll see how that one goes.
So, what was today's crafty project? Well, I am in the process of making paper snowflakes to hang on our windows. The ironic thing is that I planned on making them and then it snowed today! It barely ever snows here, so it was a nice surprise. I also made yummy pumpkin chocolate chip cookies last night. My mom always made these for us in the fall when we were growing up and I love them! Here's the recipe, if you're interested...
THE GREAT PUMPKIN COOKIE
Mix 1 1/2 c. softened butter with 2 c. packed brown sugar and 1 c. white sugar. Add one egg, stirring well. Mix in 1 tsp. vanilla, 2 tsp. baking soda, 2 tsp. cinnamon, and 1 tsp. salt. Add one 16 oz. can of pumpkin puree, stirring well. Mix in 1 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips. Add 2 c. flour, stir until throughly mixed. Add 2 c. oats; stir well. Add 2 more cups of flour. Drop onto a baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees for about ten mintues or so. Enjoy!
When I figure out how to post a picture on here, I'll show you my snowflakes...
